Welcome To My Animal Crossing E-Shrine

Animal Crossing is a social simulation video game series developed and published by Nintendo. In Animal Crossing, the player character is a human who lives in a village inhabited by various anthropomorphic animals and can do various activities like interior decorationg, exterior decorating, fishing, insect catching, fossil hunting, designing clothing/patterns, farming, and gardening. The series is notable for its open-ended gameplay and use of the video game console's internal clock and calendar to simulate real passage of time.

Since its initial release in 2001, five Animal Crossing games have been released worldwide, one each for the Nintendo 64/iQue Player (enhanced and reissued for the GameCube), Nintendo DS, Wii, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch. The series has been both critically and commercially successful and has sold over 78 million units worldwide.

Animal Crossing is my all time favorite, and most played game.

Animal Crossing and Me

Animal crossing was one of the first video games I ever owned and played as a kid along with Nintendogs and Pokemon Diamond.

Even though I haven't played a ton of video games like other gamers that I know, Animal Crossing has still managed to be my favorite and most played over any of the other games I've played over the years.

The First AC game I played was Wild World. I got it when I was around 8 years old. I saw an advertisement for it in a Nintendo Power magazine and initially thought it was an RPG rather than a life sim. I obsessed over it for months and was so excited and delightfully surprised when I finally got it. After doing the chores in the game I could do whatever I wanted when I felt like it and had way more control than in other games.

As a kid I absolutely loved developing my own daily routine, checking my mail and sending letters, and even got so emotionally involved with the game I cried when one of my favorite villagers moved away while I was grounded.

Later, in middle school, I started playing City Folk. This is when I started using AC forums and blogs to read online guides and play with other people across the world. Getting involved with the community online is what made get even more invested in the game.
